The Peder Hedberg Foundation supports Christian camping and work that values and uplifts children with disabilities.
The PHF again shared sponsorship with the Chicago Invite Ultimate Frisbee Tournament at both the high school and college levels. Number 16 showed on staff shirts and a Tribute Board was put up as well, so that all participants could dedicate their day to loved ones. The event was again a huge success. Thanks to all the volunteers and players who make these two weekends spectacular.
Second Annual PedHed for Life at Kitty O’Shea’s Pub
With the help of Sorts of Sports and Chris Carmona, $1,900 was raised for The PHF. This year, raffles included a trip to the British Virgin Islands and a couple of sets of Red Sox tickets!
We shared sponsorship with the largest Ultimate Frisbee Tournament in the country. Number 16 (Peder’s favorite and team number) was prominent. The event was a great way to honor him. Thanks to all the volunteers and players who made this a great success.

South Suburban Special Recreation Association Banquet
Six board members attended and were recognized at a banquet honoring SSSRA participants. It was a great opportunity to meet some of those we are serving through our gifts as well as share stories and memories about Peder’s time on staff.
South Suburban Special Recreation Association
SSSRA will be using gifts from the Foundation to fund six events for children with disabilities and their families. Thanks to the funds that were contributed, the following events will be available free-of-charge for most participants:
Pilgrim Pines Conference Center
Swanzey, New Hampshire
With $5,000 contributed by the Foundation, Pilgrim Pines has purchased a fleet of water craft for children and their families to enjoy on Swanzey Lake.
First Annual Hope Covenant Golf Classic for The Peder Hedberg Foundation
Orland Park, Illinois
Hope Covenant Church’s inaugural golf tournament was a success, with 36 golfers and over $1,000 in sponsorships. Over $3,000 was raised for the Foundation. Thanks to Dan Reynolds and Matt Windle who organized the event and everyone who participated through playing and sponsoring.
Cilantro Mexican Restaurant Dinner Fundraiser
On a Sunday night, local Mexican restaurant, Cilantro, was open specifically for The PHF! 85 guests joined us for a silent auction and taco buffet with live music and over $2,000 was raised. Thanks to Paul and Hope Hedberg for organizing the event and Jori Tarjan and Rachel Stade for their live entertainment. And thanks to all who attended!
We had a “hot-90’s” day of sand volleyball and bean bags at Apollo Park in Homewood, followed by delicious grilling from President, Paul. $630 in donations were raised on this fun day!
